The Caribbean Island of Anguilla is a British overseas territory. The main language spoken is English & the currency used is the East Caribbean Dollar. The Capital of the Island is the Valley. Anguilla lies East of Puerto Rico & the Virgin Islands & is popular for its coral reefs & beautiful beaches.
The climate on the Island is generally Tropical with the hottest time of year between July & October. There are several great white sandy beaches where you can snorkel, scuba dive, swim with turtles, charter a boat or just relax. Other activities on the Island include golf, horse riding, underground caves, tennis, hiking & mountain biking. Some of the other popular attractions include the Heritage collection museum, Anguillas National Trust, visiting the nearby smaller Islands & remote beaches, watching the local traditional boat races & just relaxing in the beach bars.
There are several excursions available that can be booked with local tour guides. Take a trip to the nearby Island of St Maarten by boat & visit St Maarten Zoological park or the casino or do some shopping in a nice relaxed environment.
Anguilla has plenty to offer diners with fresh local produce being used with creativity & local flavours, there are family restaurants, romantic restaurants barbecues & casual restaurants. For evening entertainment there are bars & clubs with live music & dj’s for everyone to enjoy. Anguilla has plenty of small villages where you will find local handmade crafts & souvenirs.
Travelling to Anguilla from the UK will generally involve a connecting flight or ferry via either St Maartan or Antigua. Some UK regional airports do operate flights to St Maarten & Antigua. (the journey to Anguilla is then just approximately 20 minutes).
