Antigua & Barbuda consists of two beautiful Caribbean Islands located between the Caribbean Sea & the Atlantic Ocean. The Capital & largest city is Saint Johns & the local currency used is the East Caribbean dollar. The climate generally is tropical with warm winter temperatures & hot summers but with some rainfall.
The islands are popular for there many white sandy beaches, sailing, coral reefs, snorkelling & scuba diving. Other adventure activities include hiking, birdwatching, golf, kayaking, fishing & windsurfing. Some of the many excursions available include Seafaris, jeep tours, sailing cruises, helicopter rides, scenic tours & island adventures.
In the capital city of Saint Johns houses the Cathedral, the museum of Antigua & Barbuda in the Colonial court house, farmers markets with local handmade crafts & exquisite tropical fruit. Saint Johns also has a variety of restaurants, cafes, bars & shops & some lively evening entertainment.
Throughout the island of Antigua there are some fantastic restaurants serving mouth watering cuisine, fine wines, beers & some with entertainment.
Barbuda is more relaxed but alot less developed & full of natural beauty. You can fly to/from Barbuda in just 20 minutes, or travel by boat in 3 hours. Barbuda also has some fantastic beaches, is great for swimming, snorkelling, scuba diving & relaxing.
Barduda’s bird sanctuary is one of the popular attractions as well as Martello Tower, Highland house, Palaster reef, Coco point pink coral beach & Darby’s cave. There are several restaurants, bars, local craft shops & entertainment to enjoy throughout the Island & in the hotels & holiday complexes.
Several airlines operate direct flights from some UK regional airports to Antigua’s V.C.Bird International airport, transfers to Barbuda can be arranged with travel/tour operators.
